EP and album mastering that keeps the record together

A connected project has to be judged as one listening experience, not as a set of separate files. Track order, transitions and intentional differences between songs are central parts of the order.

Is this the right request for you?

You have several finished mixes that will become an EP or album, and you want a clear musical direction to run through the whole project.

Not automatically included

Re-arranging, new mixes and uploading to a distributor are separate tasks unless they have been explicitly agreed.

Send a preliminary running order

Name each file with the song title and version number and attach an ordered list. Tell us if one song should run straight into the next, if an ending should fade out, or if the silence between two tracks is part of the expression.

If the material comes from different recording sessions or mix engineers, say which differences are intentional. The goal is not for every song to sound identical. A quiet interlude and a dense closing track may need very different musical treatment.

Album and single versions can differ

A transition that works inside the album can sound strange when the same song plays on its own. List the songs that will also be released as singles and whether they need their own intros, endings or alternative versions.

Gather requests for instrumentals and other exports before work begins. If a new mix arrives late, its level and its transition to the neighbouring songs may need to be reassessed. Keep one shared list of approved versions.

Plan how the whole project is approved

Listen to the full sequence first and then to the details you want to comment on. Match the playback volume when comparing with references, and write notes per song and per version. One appointed contact person keeps feedback clear when several people are involved.

If you need deliveries for several release formats, say so in the order. Final formats, codes and any special delivery requirements have to be checked with whoever receives the material. A mastering deadline is not a guarantee of the distributor’s publishing date.

Checklist for your request

  • Number of songs, lengths and a preliminary running order.
  • The correct stereo mix and version number for each song.
  • Planned transitions, gaps and fade-outs.
  • Which songs will also be released as singles.
  • Intended formats and one person who approves the whole record.

Price, scope, schedule, revision rounds and usage rights are confirmed for each job. Sending a request does not place an order. Our contact form is in Swedish, but you are welcome to write in English.

Describe your project and ask about a plan

Questions about mastering

Do all songs have to be mixed at the same time?

Tell us which mixes are finished and when the rest are expected. The plan needs to allow the whole project to be heard before the final delivery is approved.

Should every song have the same loudness?

Not automatically. Level differences can be musically intentional. The judgement is based on the project’s expression, listening order and intended distribution.

Are special files for physical releases included?

They need to be requested separately. Check the receiver’s requirements and confirm which formats can be delivered, and what they cost, before you order.
